Parish Mission 2016

Anointed for a Purpose: Remain in Christ, Reveal Him to Others was the title and theme of our 2016 St. Francis of Assisi Parish Mission with nationally recognized Catholic author and speaker, Mary Sharon Moore, from October 23 - 27.

Over 800 parishioners of all ages experienced a powerful immersion in the deeply challenging work of complete identification with Christ -- for the sake of the world we touch. We gained insight and encouragement for our baptismal mission to, "Go make disciples!" (Mt 28:19-20)

Outreach project

Our mission included an outreach project -- raising funds to help build a toilet system for South African school children as part of the "From Danger to Dignity - Enviro Loo Toilet Project" facilitated by Blessman Ministries. St. Francis of Assisi School and Preschool students' mission project for October also focused on this outreach project. Our parish mission speaker, Mary Sharon Moore, is a spiritual and vocational director living in Eugene, Oregon (Archdiocese of Portland).  Her work offers baptized men and women a way to connect their life of faith with the world they touch.  She draws from the Scriptures, the riches of our Church heritage, the works of Pope Francis and her own deep reflection on mature life in Christ. Mary Sharon helps individuals, parishes, and organizations to identify, animate, and sustain a vibrant expression of their anointing in Christ in our world.

As a nationally recognized Catholic speaker, writer, and spiritual director, Mary Sharon believes that every baptized man, woman, and youth is anointed to stand in the place of Jesus himself in the world we touch. She believes that discerning God's calling is a lifelong discovery for every person. Mary Sharon's writing and speaking ministry focuses on the power of sacramental anointing to live out our personal mission in the risen Christ Jesus.
