The Blue Knights Catholic Boys’ Club is a boys’ club aimed at teaching boys about their faith through discussions on virtues, the lives of the Saints, Scripture, games and crafts. Although not directly affiliated with the Knights of Columbus, a similar image of knighthood, defense of faith and family, and armoring oneself with virtues is shared by both groups.
This club provides some basic catechesis to young boys who are starting to spend some time away from their parents at school, but they have not yet started to learn about and receive the sacraments. Blue Knights provides a venue for boys to learn the faith with other boys, while in a fun environment.
Unique to this club is its emphasis on participation by both boys and dads. Although not required, it is strongly encouraged that fathers accompany sons at the monthly meetings. Boys learning their faith with their dads can be a powerful experience for these young ones. In addition, our boys will witness their dads sharing faith with other dads, an example that these boys will not see in the secular world.
Specifics to St. Francis Blue Knights Club
- It is aimed at boys age 4-9 (pre-K to 2nd grade)
- We meet monthly September through May
- Meetings occur the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m., which would allow a dad to attend the Knights of Columbus meeting as well if so desired. This specific day each month also allows dads-sons to go to adoration together during the meeting.
