Mass with Little Children

Wednesday, April 10, 5:30-7:00pm

Ever felt like going to Mass is more “workout” than “worship” with your toddler? Wondering how to better share the beauty of Mass with your 7-year-old?

Join other parents in the same boat as we renew our own appreciation for Sunday Mass and explore ways and resources for helping our kids participate at Mass.

  • Who: All parents of young children (roughly ages infant through early grade-school)
  • Invite your parent friends!
  • This adult event is free
  • Limited childcare is available for children 2-10 (children under 2 are welcome to stay with their parent)

This event is sponsored by the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program-a Montessori approach to Faith Formation.

Called & Gifted – A Catholic Spiritual Discernment Process

The Called & GiftedDiscernment Process is designed to help discern the presence of charisms in our lives. Charisms, or spiritual gifts, are special abilities given to all Christians by the Holy Spirit to represent Christ and to be a channel of God’s goodness for people. Whether extraordinary or ordinary, all charisms ought to be exercised in the service of God (CCC, 2003).

Facilitated by Vivian Day and Tarra Richard

Cost $50 per participant for the Complete Resource Guide (includes shipping/handling, unlimited access to videos, 1x online inventory & 5-week facilitated workshop). If cost is a deterrent, please contact Vivian (vday@saintfrancischurch.org or 515-440-1030) for possible scholarship.
The workshop also recommends the Fruitful Discipleship book by Sherry Weddell ($15). You will have the option to order this book as part of the registration.

Tuesday Study

The Chosen:

The Chosen is the first-ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus. The Chosen allows us to see Him through the eyes of those who knew Him. Join us as we watch episodes from season one and discuss what it means to be Chosen.

Wednesday Study

Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist: Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the “source and summit” of the Christian life. Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members. It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

Adult Faith Formation has a variety of study materials available to checkout for individual and small group use.

  • How – Come to the Faith Formation Office to check out available DVDs and leader’s materials.
  • Where – You arrange for a location that works for you or your group – home, coffee shop, library, etc.
  • Cost – No cost for use of DVDs or leader’s materials. However, you must order and purchase participant materials from the publisher.
