Exposition at St. Francis

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, commonly called “Eucharistic Adoration,” is an extension of the holy Mass, where Christ’s sons and daughters have the opportunity to behold the Eucharistic face of Christ.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is held Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Locations:
From 6:00 – 7:00 a.m. Exposition is in the Church
From 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Exposition is in the St. Clare Adoration Chapel (formerly the Assisi Room, next to the main restrooms)
* On Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Exposition is in the Church and on last Tuesdays there is praise and worship from 7:30-8:00 p.m.

We ask adorers to sign in at the iPad every time they attend Exposition at St. Francis. If you are a permanent adorer and cannot make your time, please find a sub using the process outlined below.

Request a Sub

Our automated substitute request system can be accessed here: https://adorationpro.org/franciswdesmoines
Please read the below guidelines before requesting a sub. Note that the system does require a password. If you’ve lost your password, please reach out to your Day Captain.

Sub Request Guidelines

  1. Please prioritize personal asks before utilizing the automated system. This helps relieve the system of so many sub requests but it also plays a very important role in fostering Eucharistic Adoration at St. Francis. By personally inviting a friend to spend time with Jesus in Adoration you are offering them the greatest appointment imaginable. Some people have never experienced Eucharistic Adoration or have been away from prayer for a long time. Your invite has the power to change their life. And when they know they’re doing you a favor, they’ll be even more likely to say yes!
  2. If you do need to utilize the automated system we ask that you submit no more than 4 sub requests per year. Some of our adorers have never used the system while others account for a large percentage of the sub requests. By putting a soft limit on the number of automated sub requests available per year we will relieve the previously overloaded system while also leaving room open for all adorers to utilize the system. In addition, please do not submit requests late at night or early in the morning. Many requests are sent via text message. If you submit a request late at night or early in the morning, our subs will receive text messages at these same late/early hours.
  3. Only request a sub 3-10 days before your hour of need. Some adorers have been requesting subs months in advance. These requests often go unanswered because our subs usually don’t know what their schedules will look like months from now. If you’d like to get a sub arranged more than 10 days before your hour of need, please make a personal ask to a friend or family member.
  4. Please confirm that someone has filled your sub request before missing your hour. You will know that your sub request has been filled when you receive a text message or email saying so. If you do not receive such a message then your sub request has not been filled. If you have questions in this regard, please contact your Day Captain.
  5. Please check to make sure we are having Adoration before you submit a sub request. We’ve had some requests go out for holidays when we will not be hosting Adoration. For the holiday schedule, see below.

Upcoming Holiday Breaks

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be temporarily suspended during certain holidays. Please click here for the current holiday break schedule. While Expositon may be suspended, you can always adore the Blessed Sacrament in the Reservation Chapel (the side chapel with the tabernacle in the main Church).

Tips for Navigating Carline

Adorers who have Adoration hours anytime between 8:00-8:45am and 3:00-3:45pm could encounter difficulty entering or exiting our campus as St. Francis School dismissal takes place in that timeframe and parents often line up early. To access the campus and parking during these times, please see the map below and utilize the route and parking indicated in red. Note that the map is north oriented so Ashworth Rd would be represented at the bottom of the map. The line can sometimes back up onto 72nd St (directly west of our campus). If that is the case, access across this road and into our campus is typically available from the business parking lot just west of 72nd St. This lot can be accessed via Jordan Creek Parkway or Woodland Ave.
