Old Covenant to New Covenant: A Sacramental Journey

This Lent, St. Francis is journeying through the covenants of the Old Testament.
Alongside these covenants, we will also explore the 7 Sacraments of the Church and how to bridge the Old Testament covenants with the New Covenant established by Jesus Christ.

Easter Sunday

1st Reading: Acts 10:34a, 37-43
Psalm 118: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
2nd Reading: 1 Corinthians 5:6b-8
Gospel: John 20:1-9

Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we now enter the New Covenant. The New Covenant is defined by grace. God grants us the grace to share in the divine life. These graces are made available through the Sacraments, and in the Sacraments we live the New Covenant in a loving relationship with God.

Reflective Questions
How have you proclaimed the Good News of your faith to others? Why is the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus the central mystery of our faith? If you heard Christ call your name, how would you respond?

Practice of Charity
Create an “Alleluia” banner to hang near your prayer table proclaiming the Good News! Reflect on times you have seen Christ in others and the impact it has made in your life or the lives of others. Notice the new changes in the church—new colors, new songs of praise, incense and more.
