Deacon Dan Dombrosky
The month of July is dedicated to the most Precious Blood of Jesus. A time for us to meditate on the Passion of Jesus, and the sacrifice He made for us to destroy sin and death out of mercy and love. It’s impossible not to also appreciate the Eucharist, where we believe the blood of Christ is made present and consumed during Mass under the appearance of wine. I am reminded of John 6:54, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.”
Deacon Oran and I, along with our wives, many in the diocese, and tens of thousands from across the country will be attending the first National Eucharistic Congress in 83 years, in Indianapolis, this next week. Pilgrims are invited to experience a profound personal revival so that they may be sent out to share Christ’s love with a world that so desperately needs it. I will be meditating on John 6:54 throughout the week.
It’s our faith that can change the world, not the culture that should shape our faith. It’s not the culture that needs to come through our doors, but the Church that needs to go out into the world. Please pray for all of us attending and for our nation, to open our hearts to God, and to lead our families and neighbors closer to Him.
