By Deacon Oran Struecker
As we celebrate the 4th of July, I wanted to share a song that I first heard about 25 years ago. The song is by Curt Goad called “Veterans of the USA.” When I shared this video with my dad, it was the first time I saw him cry. The lyrics say so much.
We haven’t forgotten the price you have paid. You’ve given us the freedoms that we enjoy today. And everyday I thank my God for sending those like you, who cared for the future, the dreams of me and you.
Refrain
The red is for the blood,
The blue is for the bruise,
The white is for the eyes,
Who fought for me and you.
So we lift our hearts today
Filled with gratitude and praise
for the veterans of the USA.
We thank the families who gave your precious gifts. The cause was greater than all your fears. And with the flag raised high, our hearts are filled with pride. You’re the reason Americans are still alive.
And I know there are so many of you standing with all of us today. We take this moment to say thank you for the freedom in the USA.
Living in this country is a gift. Life is a gift. Join me in thanking all the families of those who have served and paid the ultimate price, veterans who are still with us and for those who are serving in our military today to keep us free. Freedom comes at a price.
