For the fourth year in a row, the parish invites all parishioners to take part in the One% Challenge this Lent. The invitation is simple: dedicate just 1% of your day — about fifteen minutes — to prayer each day throughout the season of Lent.
This year’s One% Challenge centers on the book An Ignatian Introduction to Prayer by Fr. Timothy Gallagher. Fr. Gallagher is a widely respected priest, retreat leader, and teacher of Ignatian spirituality and discernment, known for making deep spiritual practices accessible to everyday Catholics. His writing offers clear guidance for entering into mental (or meditative) prayer, a form of prayer that invites reflection on Scripture and attentiveness to how God is at work in the heart.
The book includes forty Scriptural meditations. Participants are encouraged to pray with one meditation each day of Lent. On Sundays, rather than moving ahead, participants return to one meditation from the previous week. This practice, known as repetition, allows space to linger with what has already stirred in prayer and notice how the Lord continues to speak over time.
To support those new to meditative prayer, the parish is once more offering the resource, Teach Us to Pray, a short audio course that introduces the fundamentals of prayer and helps you establish a daily rhythm.
If you missed the One% Challenge invitations at Mass but would still like to participate, stop by the Parish Office to fill out a pledge card and pick up your One% Challenge packet!
